Revised Water Restrictions for Tumbarumba

Following recent rainfall and good follow up rains, Council has introduced Level 2 water restrictions for Tumbarumba, effective from Tuesday 1 July 2008.

Level 2 Water Restrictions allows residents to:

·           Use sprinklers limited to between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. daily.  If daily consumption exceeds internal targets, may need to be further reduced.

·           No restrictions on hand-held watering.

·           Pavement hosing NOT permitted (other than safety issues).

·           Washing of vehicles is permitted on lawn areas, with trigger nozzle hand-held hoses only.

·           Garden Club and Bowling Club are permitted to water.

·           Lawn cemetery watering permitted.

·           Council water mains flushing permitted.

While our Shire and in fact the whole country is still in the “grip” of a drought, Council encourages all residents to be vigilant and reduce consumption levels at all opportunities in order to conserve and ensure that the town has adequate water supplies, should the drought continue.

As we are aware conditions can and have changed rapidly, and Council continues to monitor daily stream flows and reservoir levels.  I look forward to the community’s continued assistance in this key area.
